Job Description

Project Specific Requirements:

  • Consultancy and support in the design and implementation of complex network solutions.
  • Representation of the network department as technical contact person in all project phases.
  • Presentation of design and architecture concepts developed to FI.
  •  Self-responsible implementation, either alone or as part of an FI team of Network experts in implementation phase. If necessary, takes over leading role with regards to technical coordination.
  • Technical contact for all technical questions regarding used Cisco components.
  • Representation of Cisco in a service case.
  • Support in daily network operation to FI.
  • Fault analysis and communication with Cisco Technical Services / BU / service partners.
  • Sharing information on relevant customer activities within Cisco and coordination between different Cisco departments.

Common Responsibilities:

  • Successfully manages customer relationships
  • Lead delivery of service program to major Cisco customers .
  • Performs analysis and diagnosis of highly complex networking problems.
  • Performs analysis of highly complex network designs.
  • Builds simulated networks in test labs to resolve highly complex problems and compatibility issues.
  • Conforms to service delivery of Advanced Services standards.
  • Supports delivery of service program to Cisco customers.
  • Provides remote or onsite deployment support.
  • Introduces new ways of working
  • Demonstration of Cisco products and solutions to customers.
  • Ability to sell / present to customers the value of Advanced Services
  • Collaborates proactively with other NCE’s to ensure optimal use of resources to meet customer needs.
  • Contribute to customers knowledge through the  delivery of Knowledge Transfer Sessions

The Consultant may perform any of the following components of the role breakdown depending on specific engagements:

Transactional Projects

  • Project Consultant role:
  • Generates engineering project documentation including detailed test plan for most complex networks.
  • Generates network configurations from Low Level Design for most complex networks.
  • Generate, build and execute technical and complex test plans and topology in CPOC environments
  • Executes all phases of project delivery including network staging, implementation and handover.
  • Supports pre-sales activity for most complex networks.
  • Plans and executes most complex Network Upgrade and Network Migration activity.
  • Executes all phases of project delivery including network staging, implementation and handover.
  • Where appropriate, supervises and mentors partner delivery teams and less experience engineers (on-site).
  • Leads design workshop

Proactive Service & Support:

  • Produces architectural network designs for large-scale networks.
  • Assists customer with deployment of complex network  tools and related Network Management Systems.
  • Reviews network requirements and High Level Design.
  • Facilitate design workshop.
  • Reviews Low Level Design.
  • Reviews Implementation/ Change Management Plans.
  • Plans and executes complex Network Upgrade and Network Migration activity.
  • Able to take lead role in working  with clients, Account Team and Cisco resources on developing a strategy and the deployment of complex  services and required Network Support Systems
  • Assists customer with deployment and strategy of most complex services and related Network Management Systems
  • Trains/Mentors others and Leads design workshop.
  • Owns customer account/s

Reactive Service & Support:

  • Troubleshoots and resolves complex customer network problems across a broad range of technologies.
  • Assures that the most complex customer (s) network problems across a broad range of technologies – as necessary for any client – are properly and quickly resolved.
  • Acts as focal point for most complex network problem resolution.

Required Skills

Technical

  • Expert level knowledge in two (2) of the following and strong knowledge in all other areas of: IP internetworking LAN Switching, Datacenter-Nexus and NxOS, IP Telephony, SAN, CDN, Optical, Wireless, IPCC. WAN protocols, IP Routing protocols (IGRP, OSPF, EIGRP, BGP), Cisco Security Solutions, Cisco IOS and IOS XR operating systems.
  • Expert level internetworking troubleshooting in a large-scale network environment.
  • Knowledgeable of Advanced Services Program model deliverables and expectations.  Be able to articulate value-add to Customer.
  • Undertake support as designated Advanced Services engineer for large-scale networks.  Must possess strong technical account management skills. Minimum 2 years of experience in Advanced Services or high-level support.

  • Leading edge technology design assistance for primary accounts.
  • Cross-functional contribution and impact with development engineering on product development and serviceability design.

  • Performs analysis and diagnosis of most complex networking problems.

  • Builds simulated networks in test labs to resolve most complex problems and compatibility issues.
  • Sets strategic and technical direction for Advanced Services best practices and functional roles.
  • Provides highest-level crisis management.
  • Acts as the technical specialist for the most complex deployments.
  • May act in a technical team leadership capacity
  • Identifies skills and business shortfalls and establishes programs to address them
  • Ability to sell / present to customers and partners the value of Advanced Services.
  • Collaborates proactively with other NCE’s to ensure optimal use of resources to meet customer needs (i.e., SmartSourcing).
  • Contribute to customers knowledge through the  delivery of Knowledge Transfer Sessions
  • Strong working experience in large Service Providers and Enterprise network Environments.
  • Should have demonstrated exceptional Client facing/interaction skills with project management and technical execution
  • Strong business acumen. Ability to fully understand a customer's overall technical and business needs
  • Expertise in business case analysis, executive summaries etc and ability to develop and deliver executive presentations
  • Ability to identify and articulate new business opportunities

Preferred Skills

  • CCIE R&S and/or Datacenter strongly preferred

Experience

  • Typically requires BS, CS, or University degree equivalent plus 5-8 years experience in network Consulting or telecommunications support environment. Advanced degree is also  preferred.
